Kitchen Makeover

We’ve done a few remodeling projects right after we moved into our new house a few months ago. We may’ve been a little ambitious, but we chose three rooms to re-do. We were able to finish two of the rooms before the baby was born(the nursery and the guest room) but we only got the kitchen half done before he arrived. We finally got around to finishing all of the painting last week, and so I’m so excited to finally show you our kitchen!

This is the kitchen before. There’s nothing wrong with the way it looks, but it just wasn’t quite what we wanted. We didn’t have a huge budget for this room, and so we prioritized and decided on a few things that we thought would do the most to really elevate the room without spending a ton of money.

Ultimately, we decided to update the paint(this room was the same peach color as the rest of the house!), and add a backsplash. And honestly, those two small things made a HUGE difference.

We chose to keep the alcove the same peach color that it was before, but the rest of the room we painted a light brown/mauve that goes really well with the backsplash that we picked out.

Our Ninja Bar deserves a specific mention! We got it right before we moved in, and it has quickly become the most used appliance in our home. We absolutely love it, and it’s SO easy to use. It’s the only appliance, besides our microwave, that gets left out on the counter every day, and it definitely gets used more often than the microwave, and we rarely go out for coffee anymore because this has SO many options and functions.

I know you can see the backsplash in the other pictures, but I wanted to make sure and include a closeup of it because it’s really the best upgrade we could’ve made to our kitchen. We got peel and stick backsplash stickers from Smart Tiles, and the application was SO easy. A huge bonus is that, if you’re renting, you could still add a backsplash using their tiles because they’re stickers, so they won’t cause any damage to the walls and they don’t have to be permanent if you want them to be.

Just by painting and adding a backsplash, we completely transformed our kitchen, and walking into it now it looks so much more chic and I love it. Maybe this will convince me to spend more time in this room. 😉
