Nursery Reveal

When we started looking for a house in the beginning of our pregnancy, I immediately began visualizing what I wanted the nursery for our baby to look like.  We really wanted it to be generally gender neutral, and we wanted it to be a room that could grow with our baby.

I feel like we really lucked out on how cute our entire house is, but the nursery is definitely my favorite room of the house now.

One of the biggest downsides to this house has been the color…all of the walls were peach. Peach definitely isn’t a horrible color! And we actually like it in a few of the rooms…but every single inch of this house, including the ceilings, were painted peach. The nursery was the first room to get painted, and even though we didn’t think it was a horrible color before, once we got finished, we realized how much better it looks!

This is what it looked like before:

We were able to work with a handful of really amazing companies to make this nursery come together. Whenever anyone new comes over to the house, we immediately ask them if they want to see the nursery! And now that we finally have a cute baby, this room will start getting some use.

When we started out decorating the nursery, we had a really loose plan to decorate it with a woodland theme, and while we definitely chose things that fit that theme, we kept it pretty general. We tried really hard to find things that had meaning to us, and I think Bastian will love growing up in this room full of mountains and trees.

Both the crib and the glider we thrifted, but we got everything else new. We really lucked out on how easy it was to find everything we wanted!

One of the most common themes in the nursery is our love of mountains, and these adorable bookends fit in perfectly.

This little product is a Hatch Baby, a sleep aid that is totally customizeable and controlled by an app to change the sound/song, and the color of the light. The light is super soft, which works great for middle of the night feedings.

I adore having this pouf instead of a regular ottoman for the glider! And this is honestly the softest sheepskin rug I’ve ever seen.

I wasn’t kidding about our love for the mountains, which is why these shelves were the perfect addition to his room!

My little sister painted the two canvases on the ends, and the big one in the middle is the canvas from our gender reveal.

Obviously the baby can’t read yet, but I loved picking out little things to put on his bookshelf that were meaningful for us, even though they might not necessarily get a lot of use yet. I love having this cute alphabet print where we keep all of his books! The little picture frame was sent to me by my sister who is living in Nicaragua, the little peanut sitting in front of it was given to us by a sweet friend at the beginning of my pregnancy, and The Little Prince is one of my absolute favorite books(have you seen the movie yet? I cry every time I watch it!)

One of my favorite things about these decals is that they came in separate pieces, so we were able to space them out the way we wanted, and we were able to place all of the branches individually, so they would fit perfectly. And it really complimented the shiplap wallpaper we chose too!

You can’t really tell in a lot of the photos, but instead of painting the room white, we chose an off white, almost light blue color.

He doesn’t really get a lot of use out of the crib yet, but we’re excited for him to get to use these cute sheets and blankets once he starts sleeping in his own room more.

Our sleeping plan is to do modified co-sleeping, and this Moses Basket is the perfect thing for what we’re wanting to do. This way he has his own place to sleep, but he can sleep in the bed with us, and we can really transport him anywhere while he’s still asleep.

The last part of this room, and probably my personal favorite part of the nursery, is that we had an amazing glow in the dark mural painted onto his ceiling. It’s a totally unique ceiling now, and it’s hyper-realistic. Sometimes Seth and I will just sit in there at night with the lights off and just stare at the ceiling together. I can’t wait to share it with all of you in a future blog post. 🙂
