Our Stay at the Ranch at Laguna Beach

Seth and I love Laguna Beach. When we were trying to decide where to go for our anniversary this year, Laguna Beach was an easy decision for us to make. We have never managed to get away for our anniversary before, and so this felt like a perfect opportunity to have a little babymoon.

The Ranch at Laguna Beach

We did so much and saw so much on our vacation, but the highlight of our trip was definitely the resort we chose to stay at! The Ranch at Laguna Beach is located up a canyon off the coast of Laguna Beach. Stunning views and amazing location were just the beginning.

Sustainability

It’s no secret that Seth and I have dedicated a lot of our time this year to living more sustainably. Once you really get into it, you quickly realize how every aspect of your life is affected by the products you use and the decisions you make. We were really impressed by the efforts that The Ranch makes to be sustainable and a force for good for the environment! Instead of traditional plastic bottles of water in the hotel rooms, they have glass bottles that are ground into sand when you are finished with them. Isn’t that insane? Every single thing has been thought of.

The Ranch also has eliminated all single use plastic. Sit down and think about that for a second. ALL single use plastic. No straws, no plastic bottles, absolutely no single use plastic. Even the k-cups to go in the coffee machines in the room are cleaned out and recycled separately. They use bamboo straws instead of paper. The room keys are made out of wood instead of plastic. Seth and I were really impressed with our entire stay and the way that this hotel is aware of their impact on the environment and the world around them.

There are so many things I could say about this; but before I move on to the rest of our trip, I just wanted to say that those things matter! Choosing to support businesses that are doing their part to help our environment is really important.

The second day of our trip was really rainy. Even though we were a little disappointed we couldn’t spend the entire day out on the beach, we were able to have so much fun just in our hotel room. The staff wasn’t sure if we would have Bastian with us or not, so they put us in a two room cottage, and we really enjoyed our experience there.

Harvest Restaurant

We were able to eat both breakfast and lunch at their restaurant, Harvest, while we were there. They were rated one of the must visit restaurants in Southern California, and they did not disappoint! All of their seafood is single line caught. Meaning that no plastic or pollution is contributed to the ocean in order to provide fresh sea food for the restaurant. We had the fish and chips and carnitas tacos for lunch, and eggs benedict for breakfast the next day.

Even though the weather wasn’t perfect, our stay was! The pool was a heated salt water pool, so even without ideal weather, we were able to swim and enjoy ourselves. And bonus, since it was a little chilly, we had the entire pool to ourselves.

If you ever find yourself in Laguna Beach, make sure you make a stop at The Ranch! Gorgeous views, amazing hospitality, and seriously incredible food. I can’t wait to share the rest of our trip with you in another post later this week!
