Birthday Weekend Getaway at La Caille

Somehow, the stars aligned, and Seth got three days in a row off of work for my birthday. We’re notorious for spending our days off just hanging out at home. I love it, but it’s rare that we have three days together. So we asked Bastian’s godmother to babysit, and we took a night off and had a little weekend getaway. Last year, we went and had dinner at La Caille for Valentine’s day and we were blooowwn away. I’m absolutely a snob when it comes to French things. You’ll see me constantly correcting people’s pronunciation of the word “macaron”. The dinner we had was incredible, and while we were there, the owner told us a little about the vacation properties they had. So naturally, when given the opportunity to plan a little birthday weekend getaway, we chose to go stay at The Cottage at La Caille.

It was the perfect weekend getaway and was such a good experience. I was apprehensive but have learned lately that it’s important to take a night off every once in a while. I have a hard time hiring a babysitter, especially if it will be overnight. But it was so good for Seth and I to get to relax and talk. And honestly, to not wake up with the baby at 6 am.

I fully did not realize when we arrived, that we would be getting breakfast brought to our room in the morning. In true french style, we had fresh pressed juices and lots of croissants. It was so cozy and comfortable and we loved getting a break for a little Utah weekend getaway.

Since last July when we went to Nashville, Seth and I have been planning/daydreaming about our anniversary trip to Playa Del Carmen this summer(hopefully). Anytime we were seriously sleep deprived or I was just mommed-out, I would think about the great nights sleep we would get when we were in Mexico for our anniversary. We’re still tentatively planning that trip. But I’m glad we didn’t wait until then to go on a weekend getaway here in Utah! It was so much fun and just what we needed.
